St. Mary's School in Ticonderoga to close

After much consultation and consideration, we have arrived at the unfortunate decision to close St. Mary's School. I understand that this news may come as a shock to some of you, but please know that this decision was not made lightly.

Our School Education Council and the Pastoral & Finance Council, after exploring every possible option, have concluded that declining enrollment and several other factors make it unfeasible to continue operating the school.

I want to assure you that we will work closely with you to ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved. Please know that we will be available to answer any questions that you may have and offer guidance as you consider alternative educational options for your children.

However, before the school closes at the end of this academic year, I would like to make it clear that fundraising efforts must continue until the end of the year. Our fundraising efforts and tuition will ensure that we can meet our financial obligations and provide the best possible education for our students until the end of the academic year.

We understand that St. Mary's School has been an important part of this community since 1959. I would like to thank all of our teachers, parents, students and our benefactors for their hard work and dedication to St. Mary's School. Your contributions will be remembered and cherished.

We should all be grateful to Sr. Sharon Dalton for her leadership here for over 37 years. She is the reason why St. Mary’s School has become a beacon of light in this community.

Your prayers for the parish and school community are appreciated!
