The Baptism of the Lord
Today we celebrate the feast of the baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ. As we read in the Gospel of Matthew, when Jesus was baptized, a voice from heaven spoke, saying "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."
This statement from God should fill us with joy and hope, because it reminds us that God loves and accepts us just as we are. We may not always feel worthy or deserving of God's love, but through the grace of Jesus Christ, we are made worthy and accepted by God.
In Jesus' baptism, we see that God is pleased with him and has chosen him for a special mission. In the same way, God has chosen each one of us for a unique and important mission in life. God has a plan and purpose for each of us, and he desires to work through us to bring about his kingdom on earth.
So let us give thanks to God for the gift of baptism and the declaration of Jesus as his beloved Son. Let us also remember that we, too, are beloved children of God, and that he is well pleased with us.
May we seek to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and strive to please God in all that we do, knowing that he is with us every step of the way. Amen.
