Feast of the Presentation of the Lord (World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life)

For the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord and the World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Religious, we reflect on a moment of profound humility and obedience to God's will, as depicted in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 2, verses 22-32.

This scripture passage recounts Mary and Joseph's obedience to the Law of Moses, bringing the infant Jesus to the temple to present Him to the Lord.

It is a beautiful narrative of dedication and the recognition of Jesus as the light for revelation to the Gentiles and glory to Israel, as prophesied by Simeon.

Today, we also honor and pray for those who have dedicated their lives to God in consecrated religious life. In our own parish, we are blessed to have Sr. Sharon, whose life of service and dedication shines as a beacon of Christ’s light in our community.

Her vocation reminds us of the call to all Christians to present ourselves to God, to offer our lives as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Him.

This act of offering is not limited to the confines of a temple or a church but extends to every moment of our lives, where we are called to recognize Christ in others and to be a light in the darkness of this world.

Let us then take inspiration from the Holy Family and from women and men like Sr. Sharon, to live our lives in service and dedication to God.

Let our lives be a continuous presentation to the Lord, where every action, every decision, and every moment of love and service illuminates the path for others to Christ, the true light of the world.
